In recent years, Kajsa Balto has established herself as a central Sámi voice in the Norwegian music scene. She has made her mark as a unifying performer, with a soulful vocal expression and a heartwarming message. Time and again, Kajsa proves that she has something important to say, delivering her material with sincerity and power. Her enchanting intensity moves audiences and leaves them eager for more.
Kajsa grew up in Oslo with a Norwegian mother and a Sámi father, a cultural background that has also shaped her artistic approach. She has created a distinctive musical universe, working across genres with roots in North Sámi joik and hymn traditions.
On May 17, 2024, she released her fourth album, "Rájás" ("On the Border"), to glowing reviews and a highly symbolic performance on NRK’s National Day broadcast. The first Sunday of Advent 2024 also made history as a cultural milestone when she performed the first Sámi Christmas concert at the Norwegian Opera House, together with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK). She sold out the main stage, and the concert was broadcast by NRK. In recent years, she has received outstanding reviews both in Norway and abroad and has been awarded multiple prizes for her work.
