Hunstad Curch is an open church, where everyone is welcome always. No matter your previous relations with the church, if you are old or young, alone or in a group, healthy or sick, new in Norway or a fifth generation "bodøværing" - this is a place for you.
On May 17th we celebrate the Norwegian Independence Day. In 1814 the Norwegian constitution was signed, and Norway became a free nation after many years of forgin rule. Through the years May 17th has become a day to celebrate peace, independence and democracy. Children fill the streets in parades, walking bands play traditional music and marches, and the day is spent enjoying sweets, hot-dogs, traditional foods and - importantly - ice cream.
The event in Hunstad Church begins at 18.00 with a celebration in the main church. We will sing some tradtional songs from the national heritage and one of the ministers will give a speech for the day. Afterwards we will celebrate in the next room, with Norwegian and international food, cake and ice cream, entertainment and the option of playing games for both children and grown-ups.
The celebration is free for everyone! It is posible to make a donation if you are able.
Welcome!
